Throwing pots is a way of life for us. Allegra's Pottery is a family hobby and business. I, Allegra Tatum, have been "potting" since the age of fifteen. My Nana gave me pottery lessons for my birthday from Jennifer Pieralisi Woodward, who is a very special person and potter. I immediately fell in love with clay. Years later I taught my dad, William DeLoach Cope Jr., how to throw. He is a farmer; so, he works in the fields in the summer and in the winter he stays in his ceramics studio throwing his heart out. He is very talented and he stretches the clay in ways I could never imagine! Missie, my mom, is great at glazing and making ornaments. Her and Dad keep their studio full! My sweet husband, Zachary Tatum, is now a potter too! He has been throwing for less than a year, and is already mastering the art of the wheel. I must say I'm a very blessed girl to be able to share my love of clay with the ones I love the most.
